Databricks hits a $188 billion valuation in a $3 billion funding round led by Coatue Management, fueled by the AI boom and its data-analytics software.

Databricks signed a term sheet to raise at a 188 billion dollar valuation, up 40% from 134 billion in February, led by Coatue. The money targets AI governance, an AI coworker, and a database for agents. A data company priced like an AI company.

Okay AI + agent capabilities notwithstanding (haven't touched them outside of setting up a Genie space for MCP interop), Databricks is honestly a sexy data platform First time cutting teeth on it was a couple weeks ago and it blows Fabric out of the water re: usability, UI, ease of ingestion, etc.
