Market Screener

How filters and table views work together in the Market Screener, and what the displayed market figures mean.

The Market Screener lists prediction markets from Polymarket and Kalshi in a table that can be narrowed by subject, trading activity, probability, and timing. Its event and market views offer different ways to examine the same catalog: one summarizes whole events, while the other shows the individual contracts within them. Selecting a result opens its event details, including market rules where available.

The venue menu above the table offers All venues, Polymarket, and Kalshi. Beside it, Events and Markets determine what each row represents. Categories appear alongside the table, or under Categories on a narrower screen. The Filter panel contains keywords and criteria such as volume and closing time.

Changing a filter updates the results immediately and returns the table to its first page. The previous results may remain dimmed while the new selection loads. Filtering, sorting, and event details are available without an account.

Events and markets

An event groups one or more markets around a question. Each market has its own outcome, price, and trading activity. This distinction matters when reading the table: an event's total volume describes trading across its markets, while a market row shows the volume of that particular contract.

ViewWhat each row showsAdditional filters
EventsA whole event, including its total trading volume, open interest, and market count.Open interest and Structure.
MarketsAn individual market, including its implied probability, price movement, and trading volume.Chance and 24h change.

For example, an event with several possible outcomes can have substantial total volume while some of its markets have little trading. Events view shows that overall activity. Markets view identifies the particular outcomes that meet your volume or probability criteria.

Switching views retains the filters both views support and removes those unavailable in the new view. If the new view cannot use the current sort column, it returns to the default sort column while keeping the selected direction. The list also returns to its first page.

Categories and keywords

Categories group listings by subject. Keywords narrow that selection using words in the event's text. Both apply alongside the venue and the other filters, so a subject selection can also be restricted to a particular level of trading activity or a closing window.

Categories and subcategories

With no category or subcategory selected, events from all subject categories remain eligible. Selecting a category limits the list to its events; selecting several includes events from any of them.

Expanding a category reveals its subcategories. A subcategory selection narrows that category to the selected topics, even if the parent category remains checked. For example, selecting Economy and its GDP subcategory shows the GDP selection rather than all Economy events. Several subcategories can be selected together.

Category and subcategory checkboxes are independent. Clearing a parent category leaves its selected subcategories in place. Expanding or collapsing the list only changes which choices you can see.

The small venue marker beside a subcategory indicates whether it covers both venues or one. A venue selection does not remove incompatible subcategories, so a subcategory offered on only one venue can return no results when the other venue is selected.

Keywords

Keywords restrict the list to events containing every added word. Each word can appear in the title, subtitle, tags, market names, or market rules; the words do not all need to occur in the same place. In Markets view, this identifies matching events first, then applies the market filters to their individual markets. A result can therefore appear because a keyword occurs in another market within the same event.

Matches use whole words without regard to letter case or accents. Different grammatical forms, such as a singular and its plural, are not automatically treated as the same word. Quotation marks and Boolean operators do not create phrases, alternatives, or exclusions. Cross-venue Search provides a separate way to find events from partial wording or a name you know.

The Keywords field is in Filter. Its suggestions can help with spelling, and selecting one adds that word to the filter. Enter or Add also adds the entered text, with words separated by spaces or commas added individually. Added words appear as labels below the field, where clicking a label removes it.

Filter criteria

The Filter panel shows the criteria available for the selected view. Filters from different groups apply together. For example, a closing window and a volume range select listings that meet both conditions. Within a group such as Status or Structure, several selections include any of the selected choices.

The number on Filter counts groups in that panel that differ from their default settings. Keywords count as one group, regardless of how many you add.

FilterWhat it selects
StatusOpen, Closed, or Settled listings. This applies to the event in Events view and to the individual market in Markets view.
Closing inListings whose expected closing time falls within the selected upcoming window. Past expected closing times are excluded. Any time removes this restriction.
Listed forEvents or markets listed on the venue within the selected recent window. Any time removes this restriction.
24h volumeTrading volume over the past day for the event or market shown in the current view.
VolumeLifetime trading volume for the event or market shown in the current view.
Open interestOutstanding contract positions for the whole event, displayed in dollars. Available in Events view.
ChanceThe individual market's displayed Yes price expressed as a probability. Available in Markets view.
24h changeThe size of the market's probability change over the past day, in either direction. Available in Markets view.
StructureThe event structure reported by the venue: Single market, Winner-take-all, or Independent. Available in Events view.

Status and timing

Status describes whether trading remains open and whether the outcome has been finalized. Closed listings have stopped trading but can still await a finalized outcome; settled listings have completed that process. An expected closing time is separate from the status and can precede settlement.

The Status filter can include several stages together. Clearing its last selected option selects all the available statuses rather than producing an empty selection.

Timing filters narrow the selection by when a listing appeared or is expected to close. Listed for identifies new prediction markets, while Closing in focuses on upcoming deadlines. Combined with a category or keyword, either filter can show recent listings or upcoming deadlines for that subject.

Trading activity and probability

Volume figures use the venues' contract or share volume convention, displayed in dollars. They describe the amount traded, including repeated trading in the same contracts, rather than the cash paid for those trades. Open interest describes the positions still outstanding. An event can therefore have high lifetime volume even when little trading has taken place recently, or when few positions remain open.

Chance converts the displayed Yes price into an implied probability: a price of 40 cents appears as 40%. The 24h change filter measures movement in percentage points. A move from 40% to 50% is a rise of 10 percentage points, and a move from 50% to 40% has the same size for this filter. The direction matters when you sort the results.

Event structure

The Structure filter distinguishes events by how their markets relate to each other. Single market selects events containing one market. Winner-take-all selects events whose markets represent mutually exclusive outcomes. Independent selects events whose markets can settle separately; those outcomes can still be related.

Events with several markets and no reported structure match neither Winner-take-all nor Independent. Leaving Structure clear keeps those events eligible.

Selecting numeric ranges

Volume, open interest, chance, and change filters offer adjoining ranges. Checking a range beyond your current selection also selects the ranges in between, keeping one continuous interval. Clearing a range at an edge shortens the selection. Clearing one in the middle keeps only the selected ranges below it. Clearing the only selected range removes that filter.

The lower boundary is included in each range; its upper boundary belongs to the next range. The highest Chance range also includes its upper endpoint. Filtering uses the underlying figures, so rounded values that look identical in the table can fall on different sides of a boundary.

A numeric filter also requires that the figure is available. Selecting every range excludes listings with no value for that measurement. Clearing the filter allows those listings to appear again.

Reading the results

The table displays the figures used by the current view's filters. Its volume, open interest, chance, change, and timing columns also support sorting through Sort ascending and Sort descending in each heading's menu. Sorting applies to all matching results and returns the list to its first page. The active heading shows the direction, and Clear sort restores the default order.

Descending volume puts the greatest trading activity first. For 24h change, descending puts the largest increases first, while ascending puts the largest declines first. This differs from the movement filter, which includes rises and declines of the selected size.

For Listed for, descending puts the newest listings first. For Closing in, ascending puts upcoming deadlines in order from soonest to latest, followed by already-past expected closing times. Missing values sort after known values in either direction. Hovering over a timing cell reveals its calendar date in your local timezone; a past expected close appears with “ago.”

Column visibility

The Columns menu controls which optional figures appear in the table. Revealing a hidden column also makes its sorting menu available. In the table, 24h vol. is the past day's volume and Open int. is open interest. Narrow screens show fewer columns automatically, and adding columns may make the table scroll horizontally.

Column choices are remembered in the same browser, separately for Events and Markets view. Reset columns restores the automatic choices for the table's width.

Prices, changes, and missing values

Markets view shows Chance as a rounded percentage. Very small positive probabilities appear as <1%. These are displayed market prices; a price available for a trade can differ.

Unavailable volume, open interest, or timing values leave blank cells. A missing Chance appears as a dash. A blank 24h change can mean either unavailable data or a movement small enough to round to zero.

The 24h price sparkline is a small chart of the market's available price history over the past day. Its color follows the direction from the first known point to the last. Each sparkline uses its own vertical scale, so equal-looking line heights do not establish equal price movements. Missing history can leave gaps or an empty cell. Events view has no single price or price chart because an event can contain several markets.

Additional results

When there are more results, signed-in users can move between pages below the table. Visitors without an account see a sign-up option there instead.

Event details

Selecting a result opens its event details in a panel on the right, or a full-screen panel on a phone. A row in Markets view still opens the whole event, whose list shows the available markets within it. Closing the panel returns to the same screener selection.

An open event's panel shows its open markets. If a closed or settled market belongs to an event that is still open, it can appear in Markets results without appearing in the detail panel.

When the panel displays several markets, clicking a market row expands its figures and rules. On a narrow screen, this also reveals figures hidden from the table. When only one market is available to display, its figures are already expanded, with an expandable Rules section below them. Rules and resolution-source links appear where that information is available. View on Polymarket or View on Kalshi opens the venue's page.

Longer lists offer Filter markets and a button to show all markets. The filter matches part of a market label across every market available in the panel, including those not yet shown. Clearing the input restores the unfiltered list. This filter affects the detail panel alone; the screener's filters and the chart's selected lines stay unchanged.

Price history

When price history is available, the chart plots a selection of markets from the event. The circle beside each market shows or hides its line. At the chart's line limit, another line needs to be hidden before a new one can be added. If every line is hidden, the same circles restore a selection.

The time range above the chart determines how much history is shown. Its choices depend on the history available for the selected markets, and the control appears only when there is more than one choice. If no market has enough history to plot, the chart is omitted. Hovering over the chart reveals recorded prices at a particular time; hovering over a market row emphasizes its line.

Research pages and comparisons

Go to the research page opens the event's full research page. The arrow at the end of a screener row takes you there directly. Open in Arbitrage Scanner carries the event into the Arbitrage Scanner, where you can choose a counterpart. The Related events card links to other research pages; its venue selector changes that card alone.

Resetting filters

Clear filters, inside Filter, removes the keywords and resets that panel's filter groups to their default selections. The venue, categories, selected view, and sort order remain in place. Category and subcategory selections can be changed separately through their checkboxes, and the venue through its menu. Reset columns affects only the table's display preferences.

How current the figures are

The table shows the figures available when it loaded, and they can trail those on the venue. Reloading the page or changing the criteria brings in newer results, including listings that have opened, closed, or settled since.

When no listings match

An empty table means no listings meet the current combination of criteria. Removing a keyword or widening a filter can broaden that selection. A selected subcategory may also conflict with the venue choice, since some subcategories cover only one venue. Numeric filters exclude events or markets whose figure is missing, even when every numeric range is selected.

Older subjects may have only Closed or Settled listings. When only Open is selected, the empty-results message offers Include closed and settled, which expands the status selection while retaining the other criteria.

A message saying the screener is unavailable indicates that its results could not be loaded. It does not establish whether any listings match the filters; the selection can be tried again later.
